A different kind of night out in St Andrews
St Andrews has never been short of places to talk about golf over a drink. At T-Squared Social, you can play it too.
Set inside the historic New Picture House on North Street, T-Squared Social brings together food and drink, Full Swing golf simulators, darts, live sport and cinema under one roof — just a short walk from the Old Course.
Behind it are two names that need little introduction. Tiger Woods and Justin Timberlake developed T-Squared Social around their shared interests in sport, competition, entertainment and food. The St Andrews venue followed the original Manhattan location, but its setting gives this one an identity entirely of its own.
Because this isn't a purpose-built entertainment complex on the edge of town. It's inside one of St Andrews' familiar landmarks.
The New Picture House lives on
For generations in St Andrews, the New Picture House simply meant the cinema.
Dating from the early 1930s, its transformation into T-Squared Social marks a new chapter for one of North Street's most recognizable venues. Importantly, cinema remains part of the building's life, with films still screened alongside the new dining and entertainment offering.
You can come for dinner. You can come for a film. You can watch a major sporting event. Or you can spend an hour trying to recreate something resembling Tiger Woods' golf swing.
We'd suggest setting aside rather more than an hour for the latter.
Come for the food, stay for the game
Food at T-Squared is deliberately informal, combining Scottish produce with shareable dishes and relaxed favorites, accompanied by cocktails, beer, wine and whisky.
This isn't somewhere we'd necessarily choose for a hushed, three-hour anniversary dinner.
That's rather missing the point.
Come here when you want dinner to turn into something else. A drink becomes food. Food becomes another round. Somebody suggests the golf simulator. Somebody else starts playing darts. Then there's a match on the enormous screen.
Suddenly it's considerably later than planned.
Play the Old Course — without going outside
Full Swing sports simulators are a major part of the experience, with golf courses and other games available to play.
Appropriately for St Andrews, you can tee it up virtually on courses including the Old Course, New Course, Jubilee and Castle Course.
For groups visiting St Andrews, this comes into its own after the real golf is finished. Finish your round on the links, head back into town and, before long, somebody is standing over another six-footer.
Interactive darts add another option, particularly for groups looking to combine food, drinks and entertainment without moving between several venues.
The biggest screen in town
Live sport is another major part of T-Squared Social.
The main floor, bar and mezzanine are built around major sporting occasions, with the huge screen becoming the focal point when something worth watching is happening.
It's somewhere we'd particularly keep in mind during The Open, the Masters, major football matches and other big sporting weekends.
And that's why T-Squared is more than another entry in our Eat & Drink guide.
It's somewhere to eat and drink, certainly — but it's also somewhere to spend an evening.
Who is T-Squared Social best for?
Golf groups
Particularly when everyone wants somewhere to go after the day's round.
Groups of friends
Food, drinks and activities under one roof remove the inevitable debate about where to go next.
Sports fans
Especially when there's a major fixture worth watching with a crowd.
Families
The games and simulators offer plenty beyond golf, giving different generations something they can enjoy together.
Rainy days
This is Scotland, after all. When the weather decides an afternoon outside is no longer part of the itinerary, T-Squared suddenly becomes an even better idea.
