You could walk through St Andrews a dozen times and still miss Logies Lane.

Cannoli, tiramisu, cassata Siciliana, rum baba, affogato and enough gelato-based temptation to make the walk back through town feel particularly sensible.

This is somewhere we'd arrive hungry and resist the temptation to make too many plans for afterwards.

Little Italy currently lists more than 150 wines, stretching from accessible Italian bottles by the glass through to some very serious names. Amarone, Barolo and Brunello sit alongside Super Tuscans including Sassicaia, Tignanello, Ornellaia and Masseto.

Little Italy's Bottega del Vino is an intimate Italian wine bar adjoining the restaurant.

The idea is simple: somewhere for wine, cocktails and lighter bites, whether that's before dinner, afterwards, or without eating in the main restaurant at all.

It adds another dimension to Little Italy.

Dinner no longer necessarily needs to end when the plates are cleared.

Move next door, order another glass of wine and allow St Andrews to wait a little longer.
